George Butler was and one of the most reputable cutlers from Sheffield England.
I don't know what these scales are exactly.
They're like a brown and black mix. Has an OLD look to them but they're sturdy. I polished them up and they just look...unique. I can't find any like it most of these have been re-scaled so I suspect there were the original scales dating back to the late 1800s.
The blade is looking pretty good for a 150 year old razor. I have not sharpened it yet!
If someone wants to shave with this piece I'll gladly put the edge on it for free...but it is an OLD piece in rare condition. I don't want to add hone wear if the buyer is only looking for an antique in original condition. So if you want this razor as a shave ready blade let me know. I have no problem getting it sharp before shipping.
I rarely do "As is" sales but this one is "as is...unless shave ready is requested."
