Swedish Frame Back Jon Engstrom Horn scales
Quite the beauty in excellent condition! A swedish Antique Frame back.
My restoration process is different depending on the needs of the razor. My honing process is a combination of J-nats and Japanese sythetic stones. Honed from 1000, 2000, 5000, 8000,12000 1600 and finished on a Nakayama Kiita J Nat. Then I assure the burr is remove stropping on denim, then a few passes on the firehose linen, and then finished on a latigo 3"horsehide stop.
Finally I sanitize the blade, polish to perfection, then add my rust inhibitor oil, wrap in wax paper and box.
"John Engstrom, Eskilstuna Medailler 1876 Philadelphia, Paris 1889, 1878, Sweden 78.81." The razor's spine is marked, "Dannemora Guutsal."The markings indicate John Engström was a winner at The Centennial International Exposition held in Philadelphia in 1876 . The Centennial Exposition of the founding of the United States of America was a World's Fair to which different countries and trades were invited to send the best they could offer. John Engstrom sent razors made in Sweden from Swedish ore and he won a medal for his razors. John Engström was in business in New york and Sweden from 1874 - 1918.The blade on this razor is approximately 6 /8 inch wide (.62" - .78") . The blade is free of any cracks or chips. The blade has a 2 3/4 inch cutting edge and seems to be the original full length.

I highly RECOMMEND for any items that have STEEL components that you pick up a 5 dollar bottle of Beard Knife Razor lube. It lasts forever and costs next to nothing to protect your investment. I see guys dropping $200 dollars on a razor and then wondering why it develops rust when they leave it wet and don't take care of it. Stainless steel doesn't mean rust proof steel. Remember your blade can last HUNDREDS of years or a month. That's entirely up to you. Always...ALWAYS dry your razor after use. Get a stand so it can drip dry if nothing else and apply a little of this oil to your steel after use and you will not have to worry about rust. https://www.beardknife.com/listing/649137610/beardknife-straight-razor-steel-lube
